Our Finance Division provides financial services such as banking, accounting, investments, debt analysis, and accounts payable. We are responsible for the City’s capital and operating budgets, consolidated financial statements, the procurement of goods and services, and disposal of surplus goods. The Division also operates store facilities, weigh scales, refuelling facilities, courier services, graphics design and printing for City departments.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager – Budgets & Financial Planning, as the Budget Analyst you will direct and co-ordinate the budget preparation, variance reporting, process re-engineering, performance measurement activities, and participate in the strategic business planning of the Department.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Degree in business administration or commerce majoring in accounting together with three years’ accounting or related experience, preferably in the municipal or broader public sector; or
- Diploma in business administration in accounting together with five years’ accounting or related experience, preferably in the municipal or broader public sector
- Three years of previous budget preparation, financial reporting and resource management experience.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and to work independently under time constraints and changing deadlines
- Excellent project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
