OverviewSet along the scenic Charles River and just minutes from downtown Boston, the Boston Marriott Newton is a premier destination offering modern comfort, innovative dining, and exceptional service. We are seeking a strategic Director of Finance to join our Executive Leadership Team and guide our hotel’s financial operations with precision and integrity.
The Position Reporting directly to the General Manager and Vice President of Finance, the Director of Finance will oversee all aspects of the Finance and Accounting department. This executive leader will act as a mentor to the team, actively engaging in the day-to-day financial operations while partnering with department leaders to drive the hotel’s overall financial success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all financial functions of the hotel including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting.
Effectively manage and communicate cash flow and financial status to management and ownership.
Coordinate the completion of all forecasts and budgets in collaboration with the Executive Team and department managers.
Analyze financial data and operations to provide insights and recommendations that support the hotel’s financial objectives.
Ensure timely reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
Establish, monitor, and continuously audit all internal financial controls, including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, credit, inventories, assets, payroll, and recordkeeping.
Prepare and direct all required financial reports and ensure compliance with corporate, ownership, and regulatory deadlines.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and taxes related to hotel operations.
Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture within the Finance team while developing and mentoring talent.
Qualifications
- The candidate assuming this role must have a bachelor's degree in either Hospitality or accounting/finance/business.
- A minimum of three years Hotel Accounting experience as Director of Finance in a similar sized hotel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage balance sheet activity and reconcile accounts monthly Ability to analyze work flow and develop efficiencies
- Experience with Cash flow management and preparing cash flow forecasts for properties.
- Ability to lead and develop Finance team members for career growth Proficiency in forecasting and budgeting Possesses a heightened sense of urgency in meeting reporting deadlines, with accuracy and clarity.
- Be able to identify, analyze and clearly communicate variances to budget, forecast or prior year in all financial reporting
- Understand how to work with hotel PMS and outlet POS systems
Compensation Range
The compensation for this position is $145,000.00/Yr. - $155,000.00/Yr. based on qualifications and experience.
