The Director of Finance will be a strategic thought-partner, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The successful candidate will be a hands-on, participative manager, leading the development of the internal team to support areas such as finance, business planning, budgeting, and human resources functions. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in partnering with the executive leadership team in strategic decision-making and operations for both the American College of Genetics & Genomics and the ACMG Foundation for Genetic and Genomic Medicine. This role offers a tremendous opportunity for a finance and accounting leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of well-respected, high-impact organizations. Accounting & Finance Functions 50% Manage and oversee the accounting and finance functions for both ACMG and ACMGF. Monitor the finances of the organization daily and prepare financial statements regularly for both Boards of Directors. Supervise and collaborate with staff accountants. Monitor procurement procedures, ensuring proper documentation and compliance. Approve journal entries, invoices, payroll reports, payroll allocations, and timesheets. Manage the annual audit process and support the preparation of the 990 forms for each organization. Monitor investments and cash flows; work with investment advisors on fund management. Financial Reconciliation & Payroll 20% Oversee daily banking requirements. Respond to staff inquiries regarding financial results and reporting. Develop and implement procedures to enhance departmental workflows. Perform monthly closings and reconcile bank statements. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements. Process payroll bi-monthly, ensuring tax compliance. Update compensation changes and payroll deductions as needed. Support Other Departments 20% Review expense reports submitted for reimbursement. Collaborate with department directors to support program activities. Advise staff on handling non-routine transactions. Provide training on accounting policies to staff accountants. Administration, Reporting & Analysis 10% Partner with the CEO on grant and contract applications, including budgeting and disbursement. Serve as staff liaison to treasurers and audit committees. Coordinate with outside consultants (auditors, accountants, 990 preparers, investment advisors). Stay current on industry practices by participating in relevant events and meetings. Work closely with accounting staff on procurement and receipt collection. Perform other duties as assigned. J-18808-Ljbffr
