Senior Manager, Financial Modeler FP&A

Role Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Manager, Financial Modeler to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This role is ideal for a professional with a background in financial modeling at the corporate level, preferably with experience in corporate development, investment banking, or a related field. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the income statement, cash flow, and balance sheet, and the ability to build and maintain complex financial models with a focus on strategic decision-making. This role is crucial for driving financial analysis and modeling to support corporate planning and strategic decision-making. This person will report to the FP&A Director.

Team Summary:
The FP&A team at athenahealth is responsible for providing financial insights and analysis to support business strategies, forecasting, and long-term planning, ensuring alignment with operational goals.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Build and maintain sophisticated financial models for forecasting, budgeting, long-term planning and other strategic initiatives.

Provide in-depth analysis of the companys financial performance, identifying key drivers and recommending strategies for improvement.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop financial models supporting new business initiatives and strategic decisions.

Analyze and integrate financial statements into comprehensive financial models to assess the impact of business decisions.

Prepare executive-level presentations and reports with clear insights and actionable recommendations.

Act as a key advisor to internal stakeholders on modeling best practices and financial assumptions.

Drive process improvements within financial modeling and reporting tools.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a methodical and rigorous approach to financial modeling while navigating complex situations and tight deadlines.

  • Provide guidance on scenario analysis and financial implications of business decisions.

Expected Education & Experience:

  • 6-10 years of experience in financial modeling within corporate development, investment banking, or a similar field.

  • Strong expertise in building and maintaining financial models, including P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet integration.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience with large data sets and scenario analysis.

  • Experience with corporate-level financial analysis and understanding the implications of financial statements.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work autonomously.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to develop clear, structured, and well-documented models.

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CFA, or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
