Job Duties
The Ohio Department of Taxation is responsible for the administration of individual and business taxes across the state. The Ohio Department of Taxation is looking to fill one (1) Tax Examiner in the Business Tax Division
What You'll do as an Tax Examiner:
Develops a strong understanding of Ohio's business taxes (sales, CAT, FIT, PAT, 911 and resort) to effectively support Ohio's business taxpayers. This includes resolving issues, answering questions, and requesting documentation through various channels such as phone, email, web messages, live chat, and in-person.
Serves as lead by assisting associates and other examiners with questions received from external customers.
Performs peer reviews and quality control checks to ensure accuracy in the work performed by associates and other examiners.
Collects and analyzes taxpayer correspondence to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Creates and maintains guidelines and/or procedures and assists in conducting tax and technical training.
Participates in special projects such as outreach events, website updates, and testing of new systems or processes.

Qualifications
Undergraduate core program in business related field or public administration which included 3 courses in accounting; 15 mos. exp. in customer service.
-Or 12 mos. exp. as a Tax Examiner Associate, 66811.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. For positions performing audits per the approved Position Description on file, qualifications are established in accordance with O.R.C. 5703.17. Must provide own transportation unless State vehicle is provided.
