As a Budget Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our financial stability and success by analyzing and monitoring our budgets, identifying areas for improvement, and provide strategic recommendations. We are looking for an individual with strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, advanced knowledge of Power Platform and other software, and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders. Job Description

AEP Energy is seeking talented and motivated Budget Analyst to become an integral part of our Planning, Analysis, & Reporting team.

  • Support Planning and Budgeting : Assist in O&M and Capital resource allocation, including forecasts, budgets, re-projections, and contingency plans.

  • Variance Reporting : Prepare monthly/quarterly reports analyzing variances and their drivers.

  • Ad-hoc Reporting : Create reports as needed for analysis support.

  • Process Development : Work on improving standardized processes for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and improvement requisitions. Utilize financial software applications to streamline budgeting processes and enhance data accuracy, including data visualization tools.

  • Operational Support : Aid in decisions regarding operations, maintenance, capital investments, customer service, and profitability.

  • Improvement Requisitions : Help in the routing and approval of Improvement Requisitions, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.

  • Process Development : Work on improving standardized processes for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and requisitions.

  • Special Studies : Conduct analyses, investigations, and special assignments as required.

  • Regulatory Assistance : Provide support in financial regulatory matters, including data requests and revenue requirements.

  • Financial Model Support : Address financial model issues and collaborate with forecasting teams and business units to resolve potential problems.

What Were Looking For:

  • Key Competencies: Communication, Teamwork, Initiative, Adaptability/Flexibility, Client Focus, Creativity, Planning/Organizing and Understanding the Business and Competition These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.

  • Preferred Experience : Prior experience in Business Unit (Generation, Transmission, or Distribution), Corporate Finance, Operating Company finance, or engineering. Familiarity with UI Budgets, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office, and Business Objects reporting is desired.

  • Software Experience : Strong background in Power Platform, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with UI Budgets, PeopleSoft, Alteryx, Cognos, Workiva, and Smartsheet is desired.

  • Coordination : This role involves working with various departments, including operating companies, corporate finance, forecasting, regulatory, accounting/tax, commercial operations, and transmission. Familiarity with AEP accounting and Chartfields is preferred

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to gather budgetary inputs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals . Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to budget analysis and financial management

Budget Analyst (Grade 6) $72,380 - $90,475

Education Requirements: Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Engineering Experience Requirements: 1 year of relevant experience.

OR

Education Requirements: Associates degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Engineering

Experience Requirements: Minimum of 3 years or relevant experience.

Budget Analyst Senior (Grade 7) $86,081 - $106,354

Education Requirements: Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Engineering

Experience Requirements: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

OR

Education Requirements: Associates degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Engineering Experience Requirements: Minimum of 6 years or relevant experience.
