Our client, a successful women-owned business, is seeking a Controller to oversee all accounting functions, lead a high-performing team, and provide strategic financial guidance. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with deep technical accounting expertise, experience in tangible goods industries, and a passion for improving processes as the company continues to grow. Responsibilities: Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, and vendor account management. Lead month-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals across revenue, expenses, inventory, and fixed assets. Monitor and analyze large transaction volumes for accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Partner with operations to assess processes for scalability and identify areas for improvement. Evaluate accounting systems and recommend enhancements, including assessing whether to maintain current ERP or implement new tools. Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, meeting monthly with department leaders to review results. Prepare documentation for audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Provide mentorship and guidance to accounting staff, fostering growth and accountability. Offer financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including work in a tangible goods environment. Minimum of 2 years supervising a team, with direct oversight of both AP and AR functions. Experience working in an organization with $40-$100M in revenue. Strong technical accounting skills and ability to investigate and resolve complex issues. ERP experience and advanced Excel skills required. Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes for scalability. Leadership style that balances clear direction with autonomy. Experience managing large transaction volumes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
