The Pricing Analyst Markdowns owns retail clearance pricing endtoend, with the objective of maximizing sellthrough of existing inventory while protecting margin. This role partners closely with Merchandising, Promotions, Planogram, Store Labor, and Leadership to ensure timely, accurate, and effective pricing decisions.
This is a highly visible role that blends analytics, judgment, and execution. Success requires an analyst who is comfortable independently owning a recurring, deadlinedriven process while collaborating crossfunctionally to deliver results with minimal supervision.
This role sits at the intersection of pricing strategy and store execution. The work directly impacts inventory productivity, margin protection, and the instore customer experience. Its a great opportunity for an analyst looking to take true ownership, sharpen business judgment, and gain exposure to senior partners across merchandising, operations, and finance.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:
Own Clearance Pricing Strategy
- Own the weekly markdown strategy for SKUs exiting or recently exited planogram.
- Determine the optimal timing and depth of clearance discounts to balance sellthrough and profitability.
- Execute markdowns tied to store closures, remodels, and special events.
Forecast & Analyze Financial Impact
- Forecast markdown performance, including impacts to margin, revenue, and sellthrough.
- Evaluate historical performance and trend data to refine clearance strategies.
- Deliver leadershipready reporting, forecasts, and adhoc analysis.
CrossFunctional Partnership
- Partner with Merchants, Promotions, and Planogram teams to align on pricing decisions.
- Collaborate with Store Labor teams to forecast labor needs tied to markdown execution.
- Support broader pricing and merchandising initiatives as needed.
Execution Excellence
- Execute price changes accurately and on time within pricing systems.
- Ensure markdown actions are operationally sound and communicate clearly to stakeholders.
- Maintain disciplined processes to support repeatable, scalable execution.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree.
- 24 years of analytical experience (pricing, finance, merchandising, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills with large datasets, forecasting models, and scenario analysis.
- Experience using Alteryx to automate data preparation and recurring workflows.
- Experience working with Snowflake or other enterprise cloud data warehouse platforms.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence crossfunctional partners.
- Highly organized, detailoriented, and comfortable owning work independently in a deadlinedriven environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in retail, omnichannel, or storebased environments.
- Familiarity with pricing systems, promotional execution, or planogram processes.
- Comfort presenting insights or recommendations to leadership.
- Experience managing recurring weekly deliverables.
