The successful applicant may report out of either of our Nucla or Ridgway office locations within our beautiful service territory. SMPA is a non-profit electric cooperative with an 80-year record of service to our membership. JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for the strategic direction, integrity, and oversight of all financial functions of the Association. This role leads financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and investment strategies to ensure the long-term financial health and sustainability of the cooperative.

The CFO ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, supports data-driven decision-making, and aligns financial operations with the Associations strategic objectives. This position partners closely with the General Manager/CEO, Board of Directors, and leadership team to provide financial insights, guide strategic initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Our beautiful service territory located on the Western Slope of Colorado, includes all or parts of seven counties. See Map. San Miguel Powers corporate office is located in Nucla, Colorado with office locations in Ridgway, Telluride, and Silverton.

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (CPA or Masters preferred)
• Minimum of five (5) years of senior leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and internal controls (utility or electric cooperative experience preferred)
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
• Valid Colorado drivers license (or ability to obtain)
