Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Interim Chief Financial Officer on behalf of a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening individuals, children, and families through impactful community-based programs and services. This is a full-time, interim leadership opportunity based onsite in the greater Derby, Connecticut area.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Interim Chief Financial Officer will serve as a strategic and hands-on financial leader for a growing and highly respected nonprofit organization with a complex funding structure and significant community impact. Reporting to executive leadership, this role will oversee the organization's financial strategy, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, audit functions, facilities oversight, and operational financial systems while leading and mentoring an established accounting team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, payroll oversight, cash flow management, financial reporting, and general ledger functions

Oversee annual audits, compliance activities, fund accounting, and financial management of state and federal grants and contracts

Develop and enhance financial systems, internal controls, reporting tools, dashboards, and operational processes to support organizational growth and efficiency

Partner closely with executive leadership and the Board to provide strategic financial guidance, analysis, and operational recommendations

Supervise, mentor, and support finance and accounting staff while fostering a collaborative and responsive team culture

Oversee facilities, organizational assets, and technology-related financial initiatives while supporting operational continuity and succession planning efforts

QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated senior-level nonprofit financial leadership experience within a complex, multi-program organization

Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit fund accounting, FASB standards, audits, and Uniform Guidance compliance

Experience managing large organizational budgets and multiple funding streams, including government grants and contracts

Background leading finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational improvement initiatives

Excellent leadership, communication, systems implementation, and cross-functional partnership skills

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This organization offers competitive hourly compensation in the range of $69-$79/hour, commensurate with experience and expertise.
