The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the construction company, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting operations, and compliance. This role partners closely with executive leadership and project management teams to ensure financial performance, cost control, and strategic growth across all construction projects and business units. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals and growth plans Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and executive team Lead long-term financial planning, capital allocation, and risk management initiatives Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes Analyze project profitability, job costing, and variance reporting Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to construction (e.g., backlog, margin, WIP schedules) Build division level P&L's and job costing visibility Accounting & Reporting Direct all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and revenue recognition Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting including monthly close. Manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting Project & Cost Management Collaborate with project managers to track project budgets, costs, and profitability Implement cost control measures and improve financial visibility across projects Review contracts to assess financial risks and compliance requirements Cash Flow & Treasury Management Oversee cash flow planning, forecasting, and liquidity management Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and bonding requirements Ensure adequate funding for operations and capital projects Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific requirements Oversee audits (internal and external) and regulatory reporting Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies Team Leadership Lead and develop the AP/AR teams Establish strong internal controls and financial policies Drive process improvements and system enhancements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred) 8-12+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in construction or a related industry Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing and WIP reporting Experience with Sage financial software Proven leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills What You'll Bring: What Sets You Apart: Additional Information: After you apply, you may receive a call or message from our AI Talent Scout about this role or other opportunities that match your skills and preferences.
