Chief Financial Officer (Fractional / Part-Time) Organization: Investments & Wealth Institute (IWI) Reports To: CEO Location: Remote (Colorado preferred) Status: Part-Time / Fractional (Exempt) The Opportunity The Investments & Wealth Institute (IWI) is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Chief Financial Officer to join our executive leadership team in a fractional or part-time capacity. As a key partner to the CEO and the Board of Directors, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial health and strategic trajectory of a premier professional association. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned finance executive who thrives in a mission-based environment and seeks the flexibility of a high-impact role. The Role The CFO provides the strategic vision and operational oversight necessary to maximize IWI's assets and achieve our long-term goals. You will oversee all financial activities, manage our investment portfolio in collaboration with the Board, and lead a dedicated finance team. Key Responsibilities Executive Leadership & Strategy Strategic Advisory: Partner with the CEO and Board to formulate, recommend, and implement organizational strategies. Operational Excellence: Achieve organizational outcomes through effective management of programs and staff. Budgeting: Lead the development, approval, and implementation of the annual budget and operational plans. Departmental Management: Provide general oversight of all financial activities and supervise the accounting department staff (Assistant Controller and Accounting Specialist). Accounting, Finance & Compliance Financial Oversight: Manage all financial, tax, audit, and accounting functions, ensuring strict compliance with GAAP , banking regulations, and tax authorities. Reporting: Present clear, actionable financial information and board reports to the CEO and Board of Directors. Audit & Internal Controls: Direct the annual audit process, manage relationships with external firms, and maintain robust internal operating controls. Portfolio Management: Serve as the primary liaison to the Finance, Audit, and Investment Committee . Manage asset allocation, monitor liquidity/cash flow, and oversee the execution of investment trades. Qualifications We are looking for a financial leader who combines technical expertise with the ability to navigate the nuances of a non-profit/professional association. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance. CPA, CMA, or Master of Accountancy is strongly preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years leading accounting/finance operations and supervising staff. Minimum of 3 years of experience specifically within 501(c)6 professional associations or 501(c)3 non-profit organizations. Experience in the education or financial services industry is highly preferred. Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, auditing, and financial forecasting. Familiarity with earned/deferred revenue accounting tools is essential. Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into strategic insights for stakeholders.
