Director of Finance

Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. The Director of Finance is generally responsible for the supervision of staff and overall operation of the district's finance, payroll and warehouse activities.

MAJOR TASKS

  • Develop, implement and maintain an appropriate system of internal controls to assure that District assets are properly recorded and that the accounting records and reports of the District are accurate and complete.
  • Maintain a comprehensive, cost effective system that includes all District financial operations, and is in compliance with the U.S.F.R.
  • Prepares all financial and accounting reports required and appropriate to the operation of the District, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, including periodic and annual financial and budget reports and such other reports as required by the Governing Board or District Administration.
  • Coordinates finance and operation activities as appropriate and necessary with the staff of the County School Superintendent and Treasurer.
  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures for the monthly reconciliation of Treasurer's cash and cash in the bank.
  • Oversee the orders for goods and services, including the processing of requisitions and purchase orders, assuring that such orders are properly budgeted and approved, that appropriate purchasing rules are followed, and that the goods and services are received in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the processing of vouchers for timely payment for goods and services received.
  • Monitor expenditures to assure that any expenditures which are not budgeted or which will result in the budget being exceeded are reviewed and approved as necessary.
  • Track, collect, process, record and report all District revenues.
  • Implements appropriate warehouse and supplies management activities to provide for the proper maintenance of inventories and to assure a continued flow of operating supplies for all District operations.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate fixed asset accounting system, including provisions for tagging District equipment and maintenance of inventories of all District

fixed assets.

  • Supervise the District payroll processes, proper review and approval at all levels, submittal of documents and reports as necessary to the County School Superintendent, and all payroll reports.
  • Provide for and supervise all data processing activities necessary to support the finance

office and warehouse operations.

  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures for student activity and auxiliary operations accounting in compliance with the U.S.F.R.
  • Performs other duties and assumes additional job related responsibilities as requested by the Associate Superintendent of Operations and Finance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or the equivalent coursework and experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of accounting experience, experience in management preferred; experience in a school district finance division preferred.
  • Variations of any of the qualifications may be altered as deemed appropriate and acceptable.

At least once annually by the administrator in accordance with the policy of the Governing Board.

Exempt/Administrative.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and Benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
