TEMPORARY SEASONAL PART TIME INTERN- FINANCE DEPARTMANT
The City of Martinsburg is accepting applications for a Finance Department Intern.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, an accredited two or fouryear program in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related field. No prior professional experience required; coursework in accounting or finance preferred. Background check and preemployment screenings must be satisfactory.
Candidates should have knowledge of basic accounting principles, bookkeeping, office procedures, and Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to learn financial systems are essential. Must be able to organize tasks, work independently or as part of a team, and provide professional customer service.
Duties include performing complex, professionallevel accounting work, such as general ledger reconciliation, preparation of financial reports, audit preparation, and grant reporting. The Intern also conducts financial analysis for various City programs and supports a range of professional accounting functions within assigned areas of responsibility.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with data entry and filing, reviewing financial documents for accuracy, supporting accounts payable and receivable, payroll, or utility billing, preparing reports and spreadsheets, maintaining financial records, and providing general administrative support to Finance Department staff. Other duties may be assigned by the Finance Director.
This is temporary seasonal employment, and should not exceed three (3) months, unless otherwise approved by The City. Pay rate is $16.00 per hour with no benefits.
