YOUR IMPACT
We are seeking a seasoned and highly motivated Senior Financial Planner/Advisor to join our team, serving ultra-high net worth individuals, families, and family office clients. This role demands a unique blend of investment expertise, advanced tax knowledge, estate planning acumen, insurance proficiency, and exceptional interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to C-suite executives and multi-generational families, delivering comprehensive wealth management solutions while driving business growth.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Wealth Management & Client Advisory
- Provide holistic financial planning and wealth advisory services, including investment management, tax planning, estate planning, risk management, and cash flow analysis
- Counsel C-suite executives and high net worth families with a consultative, solutions-oriented approach
- Proactively identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and grow revenue through new business development and referral generation
Benefits Advisory
Perform comprehensive analysis of company-offered employee benefits for C-suite clients, including:
401(k) and Qualified Retirement Plans - Evaluate plan options, employer match optimization, contribution strategies (pre-tax vs. Roth), and in-plan investment selection aligned with the client's broader portfolio and asset allocation
Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation (NQDC) Plans - Advise on deferral elections, distribution timing, investment allocation within the plan, and coordination with overall income tax planning strategies
Equity Compensation and Equity-Aware Strategies - Analyze stock options (ISOs and NSOs), restricted stock units (RSUs), performance shares, and employee stock purchase plans (ESPPs); develop exercise, vesting, and diversification strategies that balance concentration risk, tax efficiency, and liquidity needs
Health and Insurance Coverages - Review employer-provided health insurance, dental, vision, disability (short-term and long-term), group life insurance, and supplemental executive benefits to identify gaps and optimization opportunities
Analyze retirement and separation packages, including:
Severance terms, accelerated vesting provisions, and COBRA continuation coverage
Pension and supplemental executive retirement plan (SERP) distribution options and rollover strategies
Counsel clients on transitioning benefits into retirement, including:
Medicare -Ability to coordinate with Internal Medicare team on client calls as liaison, understand and have the ability to speak to IRMAA surcharge based on modified adjusted gross income
Social Security - Develop claiming strategies (early, full retirement age, delayed credits), spousal and survivor benefit optimization, and coordination with other retirement income sources
Retiree health and insurance planning - Bridge coverage strategies between employer benefits and Medicare eligibility, long-term care planning, and post-retirement life insurance needs analysis
Investment Management
Assess client risk tolerance through comprehensive profiling, utilizing quantitative questionnaires, qualitative discovery conversations, and behavioral finance insights to establish an accurate risk capacity and willingness framework for each client or family
Design and build custom asset allocation models tailored to individual client objectives, including:
Growth-oriented allocations for wealth accumulation
Income-focused allocations for clients in or nearing distribution phases
Liability-driven and goals-based allocation frameworks for family office clients with complex, multi-generational objectives
Tax-aware asset location strategies across taxable, tax-deferred, and tax-exempt accounts
Construct, monitor, and rebalance diversified portfolios spanning all major asset classes, including:
Fixed income and equities
Private markets (private equity, private credit, real assets)
Make investment recommendations that are tax-efficient, including:
Tax-loss harvesting - Systematically identify and realize losses to offset capital gains while maintaining target exposure through substitute positions, adhering to wash-sale rules
Asset location optimization - Strategically place tax-inefficient holdings (e.g., taxable bonds, REITs, high-turnover strategies) in tax-deferred or tax-exempt accounts and tax-efficient holdings (e.g., broad equity index funds, municipal bonds, long-duration equities) in taxable accounts
Municipal bond strategies - Recommend federal and state tax-exempt fixed income where appropriate based on the client's marginal tax bracket and state of residence
Gain deferral and timing strategies - Coordinate the timing of security sales with income events, charitable giving, and estate transfers to minimize realized capital gains
Tax-efficient fund and vehicle selection - Favor low-turnover index funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts (SMAs) with customizable tax management over high-turnover active mutual funds where appropriate
Qualified Opportunity Zone (QOZ) investments - Evaluate eligibility and suitability of QOZ funds for clients with significant realized capital gains seeking deferral and potential exclusion benefits
Charitable giving integration - Coordinate with estate and tax planning to recommend donating highly appreciated securities, utilizing donor-advised funds (DAFs), or structuring charitable remainder trusts (CRTs) to achieve both philanthropic and tax objectives
Evaluate and recommend alternative investment opportunities, co-investments, and direct deals appropriate for family office clients
Regularly review and recalibrate asset allocation models in response to changes in client circumstances, market conditions, risk tolerance shifts, and evolving financial goals
Deliver performance reporting and investment commentary to clients on a regular basis, benchmarking results against policy targets and relevant indices
Tax Planning & Compliance
Prepare and SIGN complex individual tax returns (Form 1040), including:
Multi-state income sourcing
Rental property reporting
Private market and private partnership K-1 reconciliation
Self-employment income reporting
Have understanding of Gift Tax Returns (Form 709), Trust Tax Returns (Form 1041), and Partnership Returns (Form 1065 and Form 1120S)
Collaborate with external CPAs, tax attorneys, and estate planning counsel as needed
Ability to Prepare Tax Projections and advisre and coordinate estimated payments on behalf of clients
Advanced Estate Planning & Wealth Transfer
Analyze and interpret client balance sheets to identify estate optimization opportunities for efficient wealth transfer and tax minimization
Demonstrate deep acumen in wealth transfer concepts, including:
Trust structures - Revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts (ILITs, GRATs, SLATs, QPRTs, CRTs, CLTs, dynasty trusts), and their tax implications
Insurance-based wealth transfer strategies - Leveraging life insurance within trust structures for estate liquidity and tax-efficient transfers
Structuring trusts and dispositive terms - Drafting guidance on distribution provisions, trustee selection, successor trustee planning, and beneficiary designations aligned with client objectives
Serve as the client's strategic quarterback by understanding their goals and coordinating execution with estate planning attorneys through referral relationships
Help clients identify and define key parties and terms for core estate documents, including:
Last Will and Testament - Executor designation, guardianship provisions, and asset disposition
Powers of Attorney (POAs) - Financial and healthcare POAs, agent selection, and scope of authority
Trust Agreements - Grantor/trustee/beneficiary roles, funding strategies, and amendment provisions
Maintain thorough understanding of gifting rules and gift tax requirements, including:
Annual exclusion amounts and lifetime exemption utilization
Gift-splitting strategies for married couples
Reporting requirements under Form 709
Strategic use of 529 plans, Crummey notices, and direct payments for tuition/medical expenses
Monitor evolving federal and state estate/gift tax legislation and proactively advise clients on planning adjustments
Risk Management & Insurance
Assess clients' risk exposures and recommend appropriate insurance solutions, including:
Life Insurance (term, whole life, universal life, survivorship/second-to-die)
Long-Term Care Insurance
Annuities
Property & Casualty Insurance
Coordinate with insurance carriers and specialists to implement and monitor coverage
Integrate insurance strategies with estate planning objectives (e.g., ILITs for estate tax liquidity, annuities for guaranteed income floors, LTC policies to protect estate assets
Financial Modeling & Planning
Build and maintain sophisticated financial models, including:
Multi-year cash flow projections
Retirement readiness analysis using Monte Carlo simulations
Scenario and sensitivity analyses for major liquidity events
Utilize eMoney and other planning platforms to deliver comprehensive financial plans
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Hands-on experience with eMoney Advisor financial planning software
- Familiarity with performance reporting platforms
- Advanced financial modeling capabilities (cash flow projections, Monte Carlo simulations, scenario analysis)
