The Budget Analyst position is responsible for performing complex and critical services requiring individual analysis and evaluation. The Department of Corrections manages a $650 million biennial budget with unique funding sources and program guidelines The fluctuating nature of these revenue sources require effective fund control methods enabling effective revenue forecasting and comprehensive expenditure reporting.
Specific job duties include:
Draft, prepare, and submit budget change documents (BCD's).
Participate in executive budgeting, legislative appropriations processes, and the long-range budget-building processes.
Design, prepare, and generate budget reports, documents, and budget-forecasting models containing multiple funding types for agencies.
Research and prepare fiscal notes and reports for executive and legislative fiscal impact of legislative bill proposals.
Present budget information to advisory or governing committees, or management, on program fiscal matters.
QUALIFICATIONS
The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, statistics, or related field.
Two years of directly related budgeting experience.
Must have and maintain a Montana driver's license in good standing.
Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
