Slomin's Inc., the nation's largest privately owned home security company and residential heating oil provider, is looking for a Full-Time Financial Controller based out of our corporate office on Long Island, NY. Qualified candidates will have 10+ years’ accounting experience.
Position Overview:
The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. This position is essential to maintaining the organization’s financial health and providing leadership with accurate, timely financial insights to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple financial functions in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
This is a fully in-office position. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable and payroll
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and analyze on a timely basis
- Assist with developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and financial planning processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations
- Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and cost controls
- Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors
- Implement and maintain internal controls and financial policies
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership
- Manage and mentor accounting staff
- Collaborate with other departments to support operational efficiency and growth
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (CPA preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership roles
- Experience in a mid-sized or family-owned business environment is a plus
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, general ledger, financial statement preparation and analysis, W/P, taxes and month-end closings. The right candidate would be reliable, professional, detail-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking with ease. The candidate must be adaptable and able to work effectively with a fluid management structure.
