The Providence Public School District (PPSD) serves approximately 22,000 students attending our 35 schools. PPSD employs more than 3,200 professionals who work in and provide support to our schools, which include 19 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 10 high schools and 2 public district charter schools. JOB DESCRIPTION The Budget Coordinator II reports directly to the Senior Budget Coordinator, and or Director of Grant Funding. The individual is responsible for assisting with the preparation and management of the Providence School Department Budgets. EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting / Finance. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES Responsible for assisting with the preparation of all Providence School Department Budgets. Responsible for assisting with the preparation and maintenance of all Providence School Department Ordinances. Compile & analyze data needed to prepare monthly expenditure and budget presentations. Compile & analyze data needed to submit financial reports to RI Department of Education. Review school and department budgets and perform variance analysis. Review purchase requests from schools and departments for funding and UCOA accuracy and make appropriate changes recommendations. Coordinate budget training for new and existing personnel. Assist the Finance division with the continuing development of policies and procedures that will enhance the overall fiscal control of the Providence School Department. Perform other tasks as assigned consistent with the goals and objectives of this position and the Finance Division Provide periodic feedback to Principals and Administrators on the status of their departmental budgets. Knowledgeable on all applicable federal, state and local compliance issues that affect school funding. Perform all necessary financial reconciliations as directed, including but not limited to personnel supplements and charter schools MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS Three (3) years demonstrated experience in budget preparation in a school setting. Three (3) years demonstrated experience in budget analysis and financial reporting. An understanding of Federal Funding in a school setting. An understanding of the State Mandated Universal Chart of Accounts (UCOA). Proficient in Microsoft Office. Detail oriented and must have good communication, organizational, and presentation skills. PREFERRED: Proficient in Lawson / INFOR Financial Software. Must complete all compliance videos prior to first day of work Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
