About the Role

The Tax Analyst is an integral part of Lathams Global Tax team. This role will be responsible for acting as a tax specialist for the firm with regard to preparing income tax return schedules and other tax compliance workbooks, analyzing data provided by the Accounting & Finance Department, and preparing tax schedules for the preparation of U.S. federal and state partnership income tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and other tax compliance requirements. This role will be located in our Global Services office in Downtown Los Angeles. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in coordinating the process of providing information to external tax accountants with respect to the preparation of the U.S. federal and state partnership tax returns and international tax filings
  • Working with the Senior Tax Analysts to prepare certain general ledger analyses and perform quality assurance procedures
  • Calculating and preparing the partners U.S. and international tax calculations
  • Assisting with maintaining a compliance schedule of all U.S. federal, state, and international tax returns
  • Assisting with any projects needed by the Global Tax Department or staff
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

  • Exhibit well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus

And have:

  • A bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or working progress toward CPA license, preferably
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in public accounting at a multi-office professional services organization, preferably
  • Experience with preparing U.S. federal and state partnership income tax returns, preferably
