- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and audit practices that ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance of all financial transactions and reporting.

- Direct grant management activities for the Teaching and Learning Department, including oversight of financial transactions, monitoring of grant compliance, and submission of monthly claims.
- Develop and deliver monthly budget forecasts for all Teaching and Learning Department accounts, providing clear, actionable financial insights to the Assistant Superintendent.
- Support the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of the agency's annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, grant requirements, and agency policies. Oversee the development, maintenance, and communication of policies, procedures, forms, and guidance documents, and ensure staff are trained and informed.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of agency financial statements and coordinate Business Services' response to audits and monitoring activities, in partnership with the Assistant Superintendent and Accounting Manager.
- Supervise the preparation and submission of the Annual Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) in compliance with federal reporting requirements.
- Present financial data and analysis to the Superintendent, Cabinet, Board of Directors, and program leadership as requested, supporting informed decision-making across the organization.
- Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties of the position.
Other Functions:
- Serve as a liaison to OSPI, OFM, HCA, DOH, DCYF, SAO, and other state and federal agencies, supporting the Assistant Superintendent in communications, reporting, and compliance matters.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree, with the credit equivalency of a major or minor in business or accounting.
- Five years of experience as a financial director in a public sector agency.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accountint Principles (GAAP) full accrual basis.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience working with automated accounting systems.
- Experience in a regional education service agency, school district business services, or state/local government agency.
- Experience with the WESPaC fiscal system.
- Travel within ESD 112 service region; occasional Washington state regional travel for meetings and/or conferences.
- Extended or flexible hours as necessary.
- Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
