An Overview
A Fiscal Analyst performs analytical work involving the formulation of budget estimates, including development of fund requirements to support operating programs, and the execution of approved budgets by City program officials and/or contractors. An incumbent in this class coordinates reimbursement activities for a department and provides program controls over the obligation and expenditure of funds or plans. The work involves the gathering of grant information and data for division grant applications and reports. An incumbent in the Fiscal Analyst class works in close collaboration with program directors to gather information for the budget, grant applications and other financial management projects. The work of a Fiscal Analyst differs from a Fiscal Officer in the depth and breadth of assignments and the degree of involvement of the supervisor in the conceptualization and development of new initiatives. Work progress and accomplishment are regularly reviewed and completed work is assessed, evaluated and redirected, if necessary. Written guidelines are available for use in most City/State financial management matters. The incumbent may develop local procedures for use in various other program matters.
