Description:

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to provide financial leadership and analytical support for our Aircraft Services – Greensboro business. Reporting directly to the site General Manager, this highly visible role will serve as a key business partner to operations and functional leaders, driving performance through rigorous financial analysis, forecasting, reporting, and margin management of a $150M business unit . While keenly overseeing the overall accounting process, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing financial procedures to maintain and improve the financial health of our company. AAR is looking for a candidate with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage the business.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee all accounting, finance, and cost-control functions for the facility, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Partner with the business unit General Manager to provide financial insights and analytics that assist with strategic decisions.
  • Coordinate, consolidate, and develop an Annual Plan and routine forecasts.
  • Evaluate and recommend course of action for the short and long-term impact of changes to mix, volume, headcount, investment and budget
  • Review investment requests, perform return on investment calculations for all projects, decide on feasibility.
  • Provide accounting support on complex transactions to senior leadership, including Group CFO and Corporate Controller.
  • Drive cost improvement projects and initiatives. Validate and review proposed savings.
  • Lead the month-end accounting close process and effectively communicate insights and results to senior management. Promptly provide reporting of monthly financial performance metrics such as program performance, headcount tracking, variance analysis and SG&A spending.
  • Develop and maintain a financial organization capable of meeting business unit and corporate requirements. Responsible for development, mentoring, performance management, and management of team.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements, including support for internal and external audits.
  • Assure all reporting requirements are met for management and regulatory agencies as required by law and in accordance with company policies.
  • Work collaboratively with Corporate shared services (Credit, accounts payable, treasury, etc.) to improve processes.
  • Coordinate and be key contact for internal and external audits.
  • Prepare adhoc requests.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree from 4-year college or university majoring in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Experience with government contracts and program accounting preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience required.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills; able to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
