Job Summary and QualificationsThe Transplant Financial Coordinator has a working knowledge of healthcare finances/insurance related to the care of stem cell transplants and hematologic malignancy patients in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. S/he actively works with providers, patients, donors and caregivers to determine and facilitate access to healthcare benefits for treatment and/or transplant and cellular therapy. S/he advises providers, patients and caregivers about available benefits and financial obligations related to covered and non-covered treatment / transplant costs. S/he coordinates and clarifies specific financial aspects of care serving as a resource to and liaison between members of the heme-malignancy /transplant team, insurers, patients, caregivers and administration thereby assuring continuity of care from a financial perspective. The TCT Financial Coordinator works in collaboration with the hospital, physician providers and allied health care professionals to review care options for under or uninsured patients including but not limited to alternative community/ financial resources.
In this role:
- You will confirm employment and unemployment status
- You will review and document policy benefits if insured
- You will review and document drug coverage if insured
- You will confirm coordination of benefits for medical and drug coverage with insurer
- You will confirm co-pays/co-insurance, covered and non-covered expenses
- You will accurately identify managed care plans, provider network eligibility status and access utilization requirements.
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelors Degree Preferred
- Transplant Financial Coordinator Certification Preferred
- 1+ years relevant experience with insurance procedures/terminology and patient interactions.
- 1+ years relevant experience obtaining authorizations/predeterminations
- 1+ years relevant experience in a physician front office/ hospital patient access setting.
- PC skills advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and financial reports.
- Communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing with a customer focused orientation.
