POSITION SUMMARY: Moravian University invites applications for a Financial Aid leadership professional to serve at the Assistant Director or Associate Director level, based on qualifications and experience.
This role is central to the Universitys commitment to access, affordability, compliance, and student success, with responsibility spanning financial aid counseling, operational oversight, compliance execution, and cross-campus collaboration. The successful candidate will balance student-centered service with strong operational discipline, supporting enrollment, retention, and institutional compliance goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (BOTH LEVELS):
All candidates are expected to demonstrate competency across counseling, processing, and operational execution , with scope, authority, and leadership increasing by level .
Student & Family Support:
- Provide high-quality, student-centered financial aid counseling for all populations
- Resolve complex financial aid cases, appeals, verification issues, and professional judgment requests
- Serve as an escalation resource for sensitive or complex student situations
Operations & Processing:
- Oversee and/or perform packaging for all populations, including undergraduate, graduate, and adult learners
- Support federal, state, institutional, and alternative loan programs
- Ensure accurate and timely disbursement, reconciliation, and reporting
- Maintain data integrity across financial aid systems
Compliance & Collaboration:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations (Title IV, state aid, institutional policies)
- Collaborate closely with Admissions, Student Accounts, Registrar, Enrollment Operations, and Campus Partners
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes, best practices, and compliance guidance
ROLE DIFFERENTIATION & CRITERIA
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AID
Primary Focus: Advanced case management, counseling, processing leadership, and operational support
Typical Responsibilities Include:
- Manage assigned financial aid caseloads for all student populations
- Process verification, ISIR discrepancies, professional judgment, SAP, and packaging
- Support withdrawals, leaves of absence, and R2T4 processing
- Assist with state aid, tuition remission, alternative loans, and outside scholarships
- Serve as a first-level escalation point for staff and student inquiries
- Supervise and train student employees
- Contribute to office operations, calendars, and service delivery improvements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Approximately 2+ years of financial aid experience or closely related work

Working knowledge of federal and state aid programs and regulations
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AID
Primary Focus: Operational leadership, compliance execution
Expanded Responsibilities Include:
- Provide day-to-day leadership of financial aid operations , workflows, and service standards
- Lead functional areas
- Lead compliance activities including:
- SAP policy administration and monitoring
- Verification oversight and quality control
- Withdrawals, leaves of absence, and R2T4 processing
- Reconciliation of federal, state, and institutional aid programs
- Oversee specialized aid programs (state aid, tuition exchange, tuition remission, veterans benefits, outside scholarships)
- Coordinate operational calendars, deadlines, and internal reporting
- Develop, maintain, and implement policies, procedures, training materials, and publications
- Partner with Admissions and Student Services
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred
- Approximately 5+ years of progressively responsible financial aid experience
- Demonstrated supervisory or functional leadership experience
Title & Compensation Determination:
Final title and compensation will be determined based on:
- Depth and breadth of financial aid experience
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory responsibility
- Complexity of prior roles and decision-making authority
- Institutional needs at time of hire
