General Description:
Works under general supervision and provides administrative support in general office functions, such as preparing
correspondence and reports, scheduling appointments and maintaining department files.
Key Responsibilities:
In-depth knowledge of pension plan regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards, including ERISA,
DOL, IRC, PPA, etc.
Proven leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing and developing high-performing teams and
driving operational improvements.
Provide plan beneficiary information about their rights and responsibilities in respect to the pension plan
Determine plan beneficiaries' entitlements under the pension plan
Interpret and apply pension plan texts, administrative policies, and related legislation
Aid with any related work or special projects
Develop routine client correspondence
Process pension plan expenses
Update member records
Prepare and/or review the annual pension statements
Prepare members estimates
Answer member calls
Prepare and/or review Pension Adjustments, Pension Adjustment Reversals, and other government filings
Reconcile contributions, expenses, and benefit payments with financial statements
Complete year end documents for 1099's
Daily supervision and oversite of the pension fund team monitoring the day-to-day performance operation. Held
accountable for the implementation of sub-decisions
Qualifications:
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in defined benefit operations or other related senior level retirement plan
administration, with at least seven (7) years in a leadership role. Experience working with unionized staff and knowledge
of collective bargaining agreements preferred. Demonstrate attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive decision making.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Able to work under deadlines and on several projects simultaneously
Commitment to superior member satisfaction
Proficiency in pension administration software and Microsoft Office Suite
