Job Summary

Responsible for providing direction, training, and technical guidance in the development of long-range capital plans and plant in-service forecasts. The role supports the capital requisition funding authorization process and monitors investments to ensure forecast accuracy. It requires the ability to monitor and control capital projects in a safe, efficient, and economical manner while ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines to achieve short-term and long-term objectives. The incumbent will cultivate relationships and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including internal and external customers. Additionally, the position involves preparing financial forecasts, conducting variance analyses, managing regulatory filings, and performing ad hoc analyses of strategic opportunities, as well as analyzing and making recommendations regarding regulatory and overall business strategy.

Job Description

What you'll do:

  • Support the annual development of capital and plant-in-service forecasts aligned with corporate and business unit strategies, addressing customer and public projects, planned system improvements, system reliability, equipment issues, and facilities rehabilitation.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly KPI reporting, along with capital and plant-in-service variance analysis, to assist operating companies and business units in understanding their financial results.
  • Coordinate State and Federal regulatory and discovery activities by collaborating with Project Management, Transmission Asset Strategy, Operating Companies, AEP Legal Counsel, and Transmission Planning, while overseeing the work of team members.
  • Support enhancements, upgrades, and user acceptance testing (UAT) of tools and applications such as IRR and Cognos, while providing advisory support to departmental staff.
  • Prepare and present reports to executive management as required, offering detailed guidance and training to improve design, systems, processes, and costs. Challenge and engage others with informed insights throughout project work.
  • Review and develop policies, procedures, and guidelines as needed, while identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and revenue enhancement.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with project/program team members and internal/external stakeholders, fostering teamwork and monitoring customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including team members, management, and board members, while prioritizing and managing conflicts to provide solutions that align with the company's goals and values. Take timely independent action and offer recommendations for the resolution of elevated issues.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience in one of the disciplines mentioned in the education requirement.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, CIA, PE, CFP or other professional certification preferred.

Other Must Haves:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively direct the work of assigned personnel and engage professionally with co-workers and customers is required.
  • Must be able to coordinate with corporate finance, corporate planning & budgeting, accounting/tax, commercial operations, generation, transmission, and regulatory functions, requiring effective collaboration across functional boundaries and operating companies.
  • Must exhibit strong presentation skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office, UI Financial Model Programming, PeopleSoft, and Cognos, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and comfortably with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be capable of strategic thinking, relationship building, teamwork, adaptability/flexibility, customer focus, and strong planning and organizing skills.
  • Physical demand level is sedentary.
