What youll do:
The Vice President of Finance and CFO is responsible for the oversight and administration of banking, payroll, purchasing and procurement, insurance, contracts, financial planning (budgets), regulatory compliance, audits, accounting, financial reporting and analysis for the consolidated group of Cedar Lake Inc. (Agency). This role leads the Finance Department, as well as providing support to all levels of management regarding financial and budget planning. The CFO will ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial records with respect to: US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), statutory requirements, and management reporting including reporting requirements specific to Not-For-Profit Organizations. The CFO works closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization's mission and goals.
- Manage and oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial records with respect to GAAP, statutory requirements, and management reporting for Not-For-Profit Organizations including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures that support the organization's mission and goals, in collaboration with the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Conduct monthly financial reviews separately with the Finance General Ledger team, Executive Directors, and CEO.
- Certify the accuracy and integrity of monthly financial statements and of the annual budgets for the respective Boards of Directors.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and prepare and present financial reports to the CEO and Board of Directors when assigned, including regular updates on budget performance, forecasts, and financial risks and opportunities, with analysis and recommendations as needed.
- Act as the point of contact and liaison for external auditors and manage relationships with banks and other financial service providers; oversee and coordinate all tax filings, annual audits, and compliance requirements including retirement, health, workers comp, and Medicaid cost reports along with the review of all related reports (audits, 990's, 5500's, etc.), ensuring the organization is in compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements and relevant laws and regulations.
- Provide oversight and administration of the annual financial budgeting process, working closely with program managers and other stakeholders to develop realistic and achievable budgets.
- Develop and maintain financial forecasting models that support long-term financial planning and decision-making.
- Maintain a standard of internal control methods to protect the assets of the corporation.
- Oversee administration of the Agency's financial software systems (UKG, NetSuite, Adaptive, etc.).
- Responsible for reviewing and signing of all Accounts Payable checks.
- Partner with the Vice President of Human Resources on the employee benefits process, providing financial analysis and guidance to ensure benefit plan decisions align with Cedar Lake's financial capabilities.
- Monitor Protected Health Information and respond promptly and effectively if a potential breach is identified.
- Oversight of all duties falling under the Risk Management Coordinator's position, including the purchasing/procurement functions.
- Responsible for centralizing and the upkeep of policies and procedures, as well as articles and bylaws.
- Manage contract review and approval process.
- Responsible for annual renewals of property, casualty, and workers compensation insurance plans.
- Ensure all conflict-of-interest statements are completed annually.
- Ensure all new vendors are vetted appropriately before any payments are processed.
- P rovide leadership, direction, and development to the Finance team fostering a culture of continuous improvement, assessing talent, and building a cohesive, high-performing team that delivers accurate and timely financial statements amid the increasing complexity and volume of the organization.
- As a member of the Cabinet and Leadership Team, work closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategic plans and goals that support the organization's mission and vision.
- Prepare agenda and review minutes for the Board and Finance committee meetings.
- Play a key role in the Investment Committee, collaborating with other committee members to provide strategic financial guidance and support to the organization.
- Represent the organization at internal and external events and meetings, providing financial guidance and support as needed.
- May act as the Interim CEO in the event that the CEO is unable to fulfill their duties.
What sets you apart:
- A bachelors degree in accounting, finance, and/or related field is required. MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, including at least 5 years at the supervisory level and at least 5 years in a nonprofit organization. Experience in NetSuite, Paradigm, and UKG is preferred.
- Valid drivers license is required.
What your typical schedule looks like:
Full-time, 40 hours per week, exempt/salary. Usually Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Compensation is commensurate with the nature of the position and will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, certifications, and overall qualifications.
