In this position, the Controller will lead and develop a team while reporting directly to the CFO, acting as a key partner and right-hand in driving the company's financial strategy. The role is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the finance and accounting department within a professional services environment. Responsibilities Establish financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. Monitor and enforce internal controls to protect company assets. Conduct audits and provide information to external auditors to confirm the financial condition of the company. Evaluate and recommend upgrades for hardware and software systems. Collect, interpret, and report financial data to provide status updates on the company's financial condition. Provide comprehensive financial updates to management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting data points and trends. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying legislation and advising management. Recruit, select, orient, and train financial staff to maintain a strong financial team. Coach, counsel, and discipline employees to ensure job results are met. Keep financial information and plans confidential to protect operations. Participate in the development and support of the company's strategic plans. Stay current on tax regulations and practices to minimize tax impacts. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Guide operational and financial decision-making. Lead cash flow projections, working capital analysis, and other key financial metrics. Essential Skills In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, GAAP, tax laws, and financial regulations. Strong leadership, management, and team-building skills with over 5 years of experience in managing large teams. Proven expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Exceptional ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights. Advanced proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and financial modeling tools. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to drive financial strategy while ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Excellent problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. At least ten years of finance-related experience in the industry. At least five years of management experience.
